Sine Circles, and an orchestra
Practise with friends in a room of your own, tune an orchestra by ear, and play on any instrument for free.
New
- Sine Circles: practise with friends in a room of your own, where everyone's Sine hangs out together. Play the same daily set and see who wears the crown, send note mail your friends open by ear, cheer each other on, and reach a weekly goal together for new outfits and backgrounds. Start one from your profile.
- Out of Tune, the orchestra edition: an orchestra plays a famous piece and one player is out of tune. Hold a player or a whole section to hear them on their own, call out the one who sounds off, then turn the wheel until they are back in tune. From Rehearsal to Gala night, with Sine at the grand piano for the last concert. Rehearsal and Summer lawn are free; The pit, Candlelight and Gala night come with Encore after their first level.
- The Maestro trophy, for the orchestra, wins Sine the Concertmaster outfit.
- Every instrument, free: pick what Sine plays in every lesson and game, from guitar to tuba. There's a violin now, and the cello is a real one, recorded, bow and all.
- In your instrument's key: play trumpet, clarinet, sax or horn? Pick your instrument's key and every note is named the way your music writes it, with the lessons in your key. The first open asks what you play.
- A profile of your own: tap Sine at the top of Home to see your Sine score, trophies, streak and days played in one place. Choose which numbers show, and share a profile card. New backgrounds open up as you play on more days.
- Sine in your language: Português (Brasil), Español, Français, 한국어, Bahasa Indonesia, Polski, Türkçe and ไทย, in Settings. Note names can be Do Ré Mi too, spelled the way your country spells them.
- A Sine score of 100 turns gold, and 95 or more wins the Pristine trophy and Sine's Laureate outfit. Encore for life comes with a conductor's tailcoat, and a year of Encore wins the Season ticket trophy.
Better
- Free plays come back every six hours: four games at a time, refilled at midnight, 6 am, noon and 6 pm.
- In the band edition you tune the player you catch, too, and the first level of each edition opens with a short scene.
- A smoother Tune-up: Otto and the customers move as one piece, Sine is no longer cut off at the edges, and long sessions stay smooth. Leaving in the middle of a run asks first.
Fixed
- Fewer freezes on Android, and animations settle without bouncing.
- The band's trumpeter is crisp again, and Out of Tune no longer closes when the phone's sound fails to start.
0.8.1October 2026
Tune-up is a shop now
Run Sine's tuning shop, on a new sound engine, with every screen quicker to open.
New
- Tune-up is a shop now. Run Sine's tuning shop shift by shift: customers bring their instruments, you tune them by ear, and the day's takings decide whether the shop stays open. Between shifts Otto's van pulls up with tools and odds and ends to buy, regulars come back with their stories, and what you earn buys your way into bigger shops. Every run unlocks instruments, customers and radio stations for the next.
- Tune-up is free to play, on the same plays as the other games.
Better
- A new sound engine: notes, chords and the band's parts are made on a thread of their own, so the keys answer faster and nothing stutters while the music plays.
- Faster on every phone: scenes are drawn in a way that asks far less of the phone, so changing screens and opening a game is quicker, most of all on older phones. A phone that still struggles gets Lighter graphics, under Performance in Settings, and the app turns it on by itself when it sees the need.
Fixed
- Brass instruments play in tune.
- The wardrobe no longer flickers on iPhone.
- The app now tells us when something goes wrong, so it gets fixed sooner.
0.7.2October 2026 · Android
Quicker notes on Android
A small update for Android.
Better
- Notes sound sooner after a tap, on a new sound engine.
- Sine Duel's clock waits for a note that starts late.
0.7.1October 2026
Sine Duel, rebuilt, and a room under the sea
Every Sine you duel has a place of its own, Quick Practice has new rooms, and Sine runs smoother on Android.
New
- Sine Duel, rebuilt: each Sine fights in a place of its own, from a pillow fort at night to a throne in a storm, with its own music, sounds and voice. The choosing screen shows the place and plays its music quietly, with meters for each Sine's speed and stamina.
- New Quick Practice rooms: the Seaside, which opens after 40 Quick Practices, and the Aurora Cabin and the Reef, which come with Encore.
- The Lightning trophy, for 200 Quick Practices, wins Sine the Thunder outfit. The trophy case has a page of its own, opened from Stats.
Better
- Every Sine in Sine Duel is quicker, and a duel runs longer, so stamina counts as much as speed.
- Smoother on Android: screens you are not looking at hold still, and Sine and the rooms take less to draw.
- Reduce motion, in Settings, keeps Sine and the rooms still. On Android, a phone that keeps dropping frames turns it on by itself, once.
- Buttons keep their words on one line.
Fixed
- The Full wardrobe badge counts the outfits won with trophies.

Out of Tune, and trophies
A school band plays a tune, and one player is out of tune. And the hardest thing in each game now wins a trophy.
New
- Out of Tune, the band edition: hold a player to hear them on their own, then call out the one who sounds off. Maps from the practice field to contest day, each with its own songs and its own way to go out of tune: sharp or flat, a player who drifts, two out at once.
- Finish a map and Sine wins its band outfit. The Practice field and Friday night lights are free; the Parade, Band camp and Contest day come with Encore after their first level.
- Recorded band instruments, flute to tuba: in the band, and with Encore in every lesson and game.
- Trophies: the hardest thing in each game wins one, and every trophy wins Sine an outfit nobody can buy. They stand in a trophy case on Stats.
Better
- Out of Tune leads the Games tab.
- Stats shows your Sine score as a banner, and a calmer history sheet.

A warmer first open, and Quick Practice rooms
Sine meets you before it tests you, and Quick Practice moves into rooms of its own.
New
- The first open starts with Sine, asks what you are here for and how your ear is, and checks it with three notes only if you say you are past the beginning.
- Quick Practice happens in rooms: an attic, a greenhouse and a laundromat, each with its own music and Sine on the beat. New rooms open as you practise.
- A Sine stands on every unit you have reached, dressed for its place.
Better
- A Quick Practice ends by leading with what moved, and every drill has at least three notes in it.
- The Sine score's opening speaks to whoever is back for another go.
- Feedback and feature ideas go to hello@learnsine.com.
Fixed since
- Encore stays on after a purchase or a restore, without restarting the app.
- The paywall asks the store again when the plans are slow to arrive, instead of saying the store is not answering.
- The ask for a rating waits until you have come back on another day and done something worth celebrating, and takes one tap.
Android3 October 2026
Sine on Google Play
The same app as on iPhone: the course, the games, Rivals, the Sine score, and an account that follows you between the two.
On Android
- The white keys and the black keys free for good, and Encore for the rest, through Google Play.
- Sign in with Google and your progress follows you; an account made on an iPhone with Google works here too.
- The singing levels listen through the microphone and come to Android a little later; everything else is here.
0.5.026 September 2026
Three boxes a day
The day in one strip, a course that teaches each note between two you know, and Rivals open to everyone.
New
- Home keeps a lesson, a Quick Practice and a game in a strip. All three is a full day: a gold strip, a gold flame, a star on the calendar.
- Seven full days in a row earn a week of Encore, once. Seven days of practice running earn the Ember outfit, thirty earn Phoenix; neither is for sale.
- Reminders follow the hour you play unless you fix one in Settings, and the first lines name the two notes you are mixing up.
- Rivals no longer waits for Unit 1.
Better
- Unit 1 teaches C and G, then E, then A, and only then D, F and B, each between two notes already known.
- A level failed once comes back at ten questions; failed twice, as a drill on the note it teaches and the note it is taken for. Passing the drill passes the level.
Fixed since
- Finishing a lesson, a Quick Practice or a practice run no longer closes the app, and the run is saved.
0.4.125 September 2026
A shorter first test
The Sine score meets newcomers halfway.
Changed
- A first Sine score is the twelve notes alone, scored out of a hundred; the full test opens after Unit 1.
- A test left part way is kept for three days and picked up where it stopped.
- A line before the first note says what the number is, and a lesson is offered instead.
0.4.025 September 2026
Ochoko, and the price of Encore
A new game, frames for the top ranks, and Encore at a lower price with a buy-once option.
New
- Ochoko: a cup lifts, a chime sounds. Is it that note?
- Stargazer connects up to four stars now.
- Chequered-flag rings for Sine Duel's Champion and Legend; riveted hazard frames for Defuse's Veteran and Commander.
Changed
- Encore is $14.99 a year, $1.99 a month, or $29.99 once.
- Rivals' buttons say Battle.
0.3.024 September 2026
Rivals
A match against another player: three stages, a rating that moves with every result, and a leaderboard.
New
- Rivals: seven, five and three rounds against a rival drawn from the pool, in a hall with a beat under it. Win and your rating climbs.
- A leaderboard, and a name of your own on it.
0.2.0September 2026
The Sine score
A perfect pitch test out of 100, inside the app. Five short rounds, a number at the end, and a week until you can take it again.
New
- The Sine score: twelve notes, odd sounds, tuning, two notes at once, three notes at once. Name all seven white keys and you can skip Unit 1.
- A recorded grand piano in place of the synthesized one, everywhere in the app.
- Stargazer, a chord game in the night sky. It comes with Encore.
- A place for every unit, from a practice room to the sky above the clouds, with a short journey when you finish one.
- A Next button when you pass a lesson, so one lesson leads into the next.
- Outfits for Sine, bought with the badges you earn.
- Marimba and theremin in Other voices.
- A new app icon: Sine, up close, singing.
- A setting to keep Sine still, for slower phones.
Better
- Notes sound sooner after a tap, on Android especially, and Sine Duel's clock starts when the note does.
- Stats: tap a note to see what you mix it up with. Tap a day on the streak calendar to see what you did.
- More badges, sorted onto shelves, and trophies for beating the last boss of Sine Duel and of Defuse.
- The library, redrawn. Quick Practice opens faster and says less.
- Moving between screens is quicker.
- A sound for finishing a lesson.
Changed
- Tune-up and Twins now come with Encore. Sine Duel and Defuse stay free, four plays a day.
- The reminder question is one line, and the date has gone from the top of Home.
- Signing in with Apple keeps the progress you had made before signing in.
0.1.118 September 2026
Meet the key first
The first update.
New
- Each new note is introduced before you are asked about it: what it sounds like, and how it sits beside the ones you know.
- After a miss, you hear what you chose and then the right note, so the gap is heard and not just told.
- Defuse has five ranks to climb, like Sine Duel.
Changed
- A play is spent when a game starts, not when it ends.
- The top two ranks of Sine Duel and Defuse come with Encore.
- A new app icon.
0.1.0September 2026

Sine on iPhone.
In it
- The white keys and the black keys, one note at a time, free for good.
- The first chord units, Quick Practice, and Practice Mode with your own rules.
- Four games: Sine Duel, Defuse, Tune-up and Twins.
- Stats for every note, streaks and badges.
